About BBYC Sailing School
Welcome to BBYC Sailing School, where we offer a diverse array of sailing lessons tailored to meet your maritime aspirations. BBYC is an accredited school with the American Sailing Association. We offer ASA certification in their 101-105 courses as well as half-day refresher classes. Our courses are meticulously crafted to provide comprehensive instruction in the art of sailing, ensuring you gain the skills and confidence needed to navigate the open waters with ease.
Embark on your sailing journey with our introductory 101 courses, where you'll familiarize yourself with the fundamentals of keelboat sailing. Led by seasoned instructors, these immersive sessions are conducted in 3-hour blocks aboard our training vessel, Noel – a Pearson Ensign 22 renowned for its stability and maneuverability. Under the guidance of our expert team, you'll learn the basics of rigging, points of sail, tacking, jibing, and more, laying a solid foundation for your maritime endeavors. As you progress through our curriculum, you'll have the opportunity to expand your horizons with our advanced courses in coastal cruising, bareboat charter sailing and navigation. Delve into the intricacies of coastal cruising aboard Omoo, our 35-foot Pearson – a vessel revered for its performance and comfort on the water. With each module completed, you'll unlock new levels of proficiency, honing your navigation skills and mastering the nuances of sailing in diverse coastal environments. At BBYC, safety is our top priority. Our classes adhere to US and international sailing guidelines, ensuring that you receive instruction of the highest caliber. While we strive to maximize hands-on experience, we also recognize the importance of theoretical knowledge. To supplement your practical training, we recommend reading materials to deepen your understanding of sailing principles and techniques. To foster an optimal learning environment, we maintain small class sizes, with a maximum of 3 sailors per session. This ensures that each participant receives personalized attention and remains actively engaged in every aspect of sailboat operation.
