Our Crew

Captain Steve Robinson

Capt. Steve is a lifelong sailor experienced with long voyages, world-class regattas, and coastal cruising aboard motor and sailing vessels. After two decades of teaching high school history and coaching sailing, Steve changed careers to pursue his passion for sailing. Steve has previously worn many hats in his professional sailing life: delivering boats from New England to the Caribbean, skippering an America’s Cup defender 12 Meter, teaching new sailors as an ASA certified instructor and serving as the program director at the East Bay Sailing Foundation, Bristol (RI) Yacht Club.

Captain Steve is passionate about sharing his love for the sea and inspiring new sailors to enjoy the beautiful New England coastline he calls home. He is proud to introduce his guests to the adventure and opportunity that boating provides.

Captain Mike Costello

Capt. Mike is a seasoned mariner with over 25 years as a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captain. Raised sailing the waters of Cape Cod Bay and Buzzards Bay, he brings deep local knowledge and a lifetime of maritime experience. After a successful career in the marine industry as a factory representative for a leading marine generator and engine manufacturer, Mike retired to focus on his true passion—sailing. He has completed numerous offshore deliveries from the Virgin Islands and Bermuda to Maine and enjoys competitive PHRF racing off Mattapoisett. Mike now shares his love of Buzzards Bay and sailing with others, offering unforgettable experiences on the water.

In his spare time, Mike enjoys cruising on his motorcycle and in the off-season, skiing with his family and friends.

Captain Chris Gonsalves

Capt. Chris started his mariner's career at age 14 working as a fishing guide on Cape Cod for $5 a trip plus tips. He's been plying the waters of the Cape and Southeastern Mass. ever since, and is happiest when sharing his local knowledge of the coastal area he calls home. In addition to his work with Buzzards Bay Yacht Charters, Chris is a state- and federally-licensed fishing charter operator, so he's always excited to share tips, techniques, and vague references to fishing spots for passengers who love a good fish story.

As a journalist, an Army veteran, a published author, and a professional musician, Chris is trying hard to complete the Renaissance grand slam.

Captain Joe Muscarella

Capt. Joe got his love of the ocean from his childhood summering along the New England Coast with his family. As a young man he jumped at the offer to learn to sail and race at the American Yacht Club in Newburyport on the S2 10.3 meter " Altered States ". He continued his passion for sailing in Newport RI racing aboard the America's Cup 12 Metres CourageousIntrepid among others. When is not sailing charters with BBYC, he is most likely racing or practicing on a 12 in Newport. He is a family man and likes to be with friends and family in the great outdoors. When Joe isn’t on the water, he enjoys hiking the New England mountains and competing in adventure races and triathlons.
